The Complete Supply List
Extensive Supply List:
The supplies listed below are linked to Blick Art Materials, unless otherwise listed. I receive a small commission when you order using these links, and Blick gets to know what a great group of students I have. Thank you!
Also, please don't spend a million dollars on supplies. Use what you have, this list is for your reference, but you will have less guilt and more fun if you learn how to substitute and upgrade when you absolutely yearn for one of the supplies listed below. Except for paper. Always buy great paper.
Three Warm Up Paintings:
Shinhan Professional Watercolour. (amazon.com affiliate link)
Brushes: Cheap Joe's Loose Goose Dagger Striper #1 (Cheap Joe's Art Stuff)
Supplies for stretching paper on stretcher bars:
Golden gel medium to seal the wood, I like Golden Heavy Gel as an all-purpose gel medium.
Stretcher bars the size desired for your painting. You can remove the canvas from a cheap canvas, or order stretcher bars pre-cut from a frame shop or art supply store.
140 lb watercolour paper. Rolls from Arches are 44 1/2 inches wide by 10 yards. Cut your paper at least 2 inches larger than the dimensions of the stretch bars, I like a 3" margin to be safe.
